Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapists as an Independent Contractor (1099) in the home health care industry. The ideal candidate will have experience providing therapy services in patients’ homes, offering individualized treatment plans designed to improve quality of life and independence. As an occupational therapist, you will manage your schedule, conduct assessments, and implement treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.

Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapists as an Independent Contractor (1099) in the home health care industry. The ideal candidate will have experience providing therapy services in patients’ homes, offering individualized treatment plans designed to improve quality of life and independence. As an occupational therapist, you will manage your schedule, conduct assessments, and implement treatment plans to meet the unique needs of each patient.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Assessments: Conduct thorough evaluations of patients’ home environments, physical abilities, and daily living skills to develop customized therapy plans.
- Treatment Plans: Design and implement individualized interventions to improve motor skills, cognitive function, and activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Therapeutic Interventions: Provide one-on-one sessions, teaching patients techniques to improve independence in daily tasks such as bathing, dressing, cooking, and mobility.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including evaluations, progress notes, and treatment plans, in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and ensure optimal outcomes.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic exercises, adaptive equipment, home safety modifications, and self-care strategies.
- Compliance: Adhere to all applicable state and federal regulations, including patient confidentiality and billing practices.
Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program (required).
- Licensure: Current and valid Utah Occupational Therapy license (required).
- Drivers License and reliable form of transportation (required).
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in occupational therapy; home health experience preferred.
- Certifications: Current CPR/BLS certification (required).
- Skills:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Flexible and proactive in adapting to schedule changes or patient needs
- Skilled in adapting interventions for diverse patient populations
- This position involves travel to patients’ homes within your active service areas.
- Flexible scheduling: You set your own availability. Most therapists dedicate 1–3 specific days or parts of days, (e.g. MWF, T/TH, only mornings after school drop-off through afternoons before school pick-up)
- Home health days: include drive time, documentation, and preparation. Some therapists may manage anywhere from 5-10 patients per day, others fewer — we respect that everyone works at their own full potential and value individual workflow preferences.
- Schedules are not guaranteed: as patient volume can fluctuate with the normal ebb and flow of home health (slower summers, fewer post-surgical patients, vacation schedules, etc.).
- Independent Contractor (1099) status: you are responsible for your own taxes, insurance, and business-related expenses.
